The Effect of Vitamin C on Hypervitaminosis A

Abstract
|
|
|
A large amount of vitamin A was administered orally to albino rats and vitamin C was administered orally or intraperitoneally and following results were obtained
(1) Administration of large amount of vitamin A reduced the level of vitamin C in blood, liver and adrenal of rats fed on low protein diet.
(2) Administration of vitamin C increased significantly the deposit of vitamin A in Iiver.
(3) Administration of Vitamin C intraperitoneally stimulated the growth of rats fed on low protein diet but administration of large amount of vitamin C orally reduced the growth.
